STEM OPPORTUNITY: HOMESCHOOL DAY AT THE B&O RAILROAD MUSEUM

 

We are happy to announce that registration is now open for our October 19th Homeschool Day, the first of the 2022-2023 school year at the B&O Railroad Museum. This year our first Homeschool Day with be STEM themed, featuring tours and workshops with STEM content.  I wanted to personally share the details of these dates with you in hopes that you and other homeschool families you learn with would be interested in attending. While you are welcome to bring a bagged lunch

Student Technology Requirements (ON-SITE)
Each student should have available to them a device, preferably a laptop or desktop, to complete their online assignments on-site.  They will also need the following: a printer, copy paper, and ink in their home workspace. Uniforms 
Here is the information for ordering SHABACH! uniform shirts. All students should have 1-2 shirts for attending onsite classes, events, clubs, chapel, field trips, etc. Jeans with no holes are acceptable bottoms.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students observed struggling with the onsite course content after 3 weeks, will be advised to hire a private tutor for their student moving forward. We do not want to hinder the success of any student, so, you also may be asked to withdraw your student from the class to pursue a more individualized plan. Parents will be notified via email and/or a phone call by the teacher.

Position Descriptions: 
   Hall Monitor: oversees the general safety of the Homeschool campus. As a hall monitor, you help provide a safe learning environment for the students, teachers, and other school staff. Your job duties range from patrolling the grounds, to escorting students to and from the snack rooms/lunch room, to compiling reports on student behavior.
•    Year Book Committee: advise and provide guidance and direction on the yearbook, outlining the yearbook’s layout and overall design, help develop the yearbook’s theme and style, develop the yearbook’s content, edit photos and copy in the yearbook, including labeling and cropping images where needed, check the yearbook for spelling and grammatical errors and also be responsible for fact checking, and will work with the Administrators to develop interesting and factual copy for the yearbook, work with Administrators and members of the committee to finalize the submission details on yearbook including publishing, printing, and supervising the yearbook orders/sales.
•    Field Trip Planning Committee:  responsible for organizing and facilitating interactive learning opportunities for the school’s parent/student community that include curriculum centric enrichment activities focused on meeting grade level standards; and organizing and facilitating field trips and special events for the school. The employee will act as a liaison between the school and its families.
